INAHMP was founded in 1987 and incorporated in 1995. We are one of the largest professional organizations in Indiana focused on environmental and hazardous materials management issues. INAHMP provides Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (CHMMs) and all environmental professionals with educational, certification training, and social activity opportunities. INAHMP is officially a non-membership organization, although paid membership dues support our organization.
What Function Does the INAHMP Organization Serve?
The INAHMP is an organization of a variety of environmental professionals including, but not limited to the following: environmental consultants, environmental, health & safety professionals, professional engineers, environmental managers, regulatory personnel, geologists and attorneys, among others.
The INAHMP generally meets every other month. Typically, our meetings begin at 11:30 am for lunch, or 6:00 for dinner meetings. We discuss topics pertinent to our organization and enjoy a meal, followed by a presentation dealing with a topic in the Environmental, Health, Safety & Security industry.
The INAHMP is a great way to get involved in topics that are of interest to you. In addition, many training opportunities are shared between members and attendance to the monthly meetings can help earn you points for CHMM recertification through the IHMM.
How Do I Join the INAHMP or the AHMP?
The INAHMP is open to all environmental professionals. Any CHMM can join our group for a $35 annual membership fee. Anyone who is not a certified CHMM is welcome to join our organization for a $50 annual membership fee. You can submit a check payable to The Indiana Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals(INAHMP).
Any certified CHMM, CMDG, CMDG Trainer can become a member of the AHMP (http://www.ahmpnet.org.) for an $85 annual fee. When you become a member of the AHMP, you can also join the INAHMP through the AHMP by paying both dues to the AHMP. Money paid to the AHMP for state membership is sent to our organization by the AHMP.
The National AHMP regularly submits a list of new AHMP members to the INAHMP. We add all newly-certified CHMMs to our email distribution list to encourage membership and networking. You don’t have to be a member of the AHMP to be a member of the local chapter; however, we encourage membership in both organizations to promote education and training. Our organization is a rather neutral organization where we share information amongst the group and network with one another, while not promoting or endorsing a specific company or person. You will find that we have a very knowledgeable group of people that you can learn from.
Why Do I Pay Membership Dues to The INAHMP?
The annual membership dues of $35 helps to pay for expenses incurred by the local chapter, website maintenance and tradeshow booth materials. The INAHMP has also used funds to purchase a presentation screen and LCD projector to conduct our meetings and presentations. In addition, we fund a $500 scholarship to a deserving undergraduate or graduate student who was pursuing a degree in the EH&S field. The scholarship program will resume in 2014 for a deserving undergraduate or graduate student.
